A major part of this week's PlayStation Store update is the release of a special Motorstorm Apocalypse Multiplayer demo, which is completely playable for one week.

Motorstorm Apocalypse is a very impressive racing game, combining exciting gameplay with the premise of racing through destroyed or crumbling cities.

Now, in order to raise up even more hype for the game that was recently released for the PlayStation 3, Sony, its publisher, together with Evolution Studio, its developer, have released a free multiplayer demo for it.

"Get ready to experience the simultaneous challenge and excitement that comes from trying to win races while a city comes crashing down around you! You’ve only got from Tuesday, June 28th until Tuesday July 5th to get in on the action, so make the most of the opportunity by taking part in this special week-long demo event while you can."

Those who download it will be able to engage, alongside up to 15 other players, in online Motorstorm Apocalypse races on several tracks, Mile High Club, Off the Rails, and Ship Shape, which have been highlighted below by the developer.

The Mile High Club Smash through offices and across the sides of downed skyscrapers in a lunatic adventure over the breathtaking rooftops.

Off the Rails A gigantic rift has ripped the subway system open…and MotorStorm is holding races in it! Barrel through the fiery subway tunnels and into the rifts themselves as crazy looters attack and trains bail straight into the station.

Ship Shape An abandoned shipyard is the perfect playground for intense, high-speed action-racing, where there’s little room (but plenty of opportunity) for costly mistakes.

You'll be able to use five of the 13 vehicle types from Motorstorm Apocalypse, customize them and earn new ranks for surviving and even winning the races.

Players can also engage in two-player split screen races or use the stereoscopic 3D support, provided they have a compatible 3DTV attached to their console.

The Motorstorm Apocalypse Multiplayer demo is now available for download from the PlayStation Store.
