Only they won't surface this year

Mobile phone maker Motorola has just announced the upcoming availability of its second handset running under Google's Android operating system, the Motorola DROID, which is set to come to US carrier Verizon Wireless on November 6. Moreover, the handset vendor also announced the launch of this phone on other markets around the world, where it would bear the MILESTONE name, and it seems that the company might also deliver the phone to other carriers in the US, namely T-Mobile.

The Motorola DROID has been known for a long time around the web as the Motorola Sholes, and now TmoNews spotted the device on Motorola's website as heading for T-Mobile. To make things even more interesting, the handset maker's site does not show only a UMTS Sholes as being developed for T-Mobile's network, but a Sholes Tablet too, and some of you might have already heard about this device as being planned for the near future.

The Motorola DROID seems to be the most appealing Android phone that will come to the market this year, and Verizon's users are certainly quite happy for having the opportunity to purchase this device from their carrier. At the same time, T-Mobile's customers will have to do with the previously announced Motorola CLIQ, which went live today with the pink carrier. At least for the time being, because they might also get the DROID on their operator's network.

As soon as Motorola officially announced the launch of MILESTONE, some voices on the Web suggested that it might also come to T-Mobile, and things seem to connect in the end. However, T-Mobile said that CLIQ was the only phone to sport MOTOBLUR this year, suggesting that other Motorola Android handsets might also emerge, only that they would come next year. Earlier rumors also had it that the Sholes Tablet would come to the market in Q1 2010, so there might be a sign of hope for T-Mobile users. Watch this space for more updates on the matter.
