Motorola, in collaboration with Verizon Wireless, has announced the opening of a new retail store in Chicago. The temporary store, called Destination Q, will concentrate on the new Motorola Q smartphone and the services offered by Verizon to owners of the device.

Destination Q is situated in the former Terra Museum at 666 North Michigan Avenue and will give potential consumers the chance to find out the features and benefits of the Q smartphone from expert consultants, as well as purchase the device and other Motorola products and Verizon Wireless services.

"Motorola stretches the boundaries with innovative products and cool experiences that delight and surprise," stated Ron Garriques, president, Mobile Devices, Motorola, Inc. "Destination Q is the first in a series of experiential locations we will bring to consumers, giving them an 'all-access pass' to the Motorola brand and its products."

The new retail store is most likely Motorola's response to Nokia's own opening of a line of retail stores at several locations, including Chicago. The official opening of the Destination Q is scheduled for 8 June 2006.
