When it rain it pours and when it comes to the possibility that Motorola would bring to shelves an Android-based tablet, rumors keep on coming. We've already learned that the company might be preparing the release of such a device, which does not come as a surprise, considering the large number of other makers tempted to make a step in this direction, and now the rumors emerged more powerful than before.

It seems that the said device would indeed arrive on the market with a 10-inch touchscreen display, and that it would indeed run under Google's Android operating system, though there are no specific details available on which version of the mobile platform would power it. The bets are on the next-gen Android 3.0 called Gingerbread, though Android 2.2 Froyo could prove a strong possibility too.

According to the Financial Times, the said Android tablet from Motorola would be released on the market on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, and should pack enhanced support for the carrier’s TV service, FiOS. No specific details on what this would actually mean emerged for the time being, but the possibilities include streaming programs from the tablet or pre-loading it with programming for later viewing.

Motorola proved a strong competitor against Apple with some of its latest Android-based devices, and the upcoming tablet is expected to bring the fight to a new level through becoming a real competitor against the iPad. It seems that the specifications list of the device would greatly help it in this direction, and that the same would apply to included support for Adobe's Flash technology, which is not present on the Apple device.

When it comes to the rumored hardware specs of this device, we should note the suggested NVIDIA Tegra2 processor, which should offer enough performance levels to attract users away from the iPad. Two cameras are also expected to be included in the package, as well as Bluetooth and, most probably, Wi-Fi. The tablet is said to be thinner and lighter than the iPad and to be headed for an October release on Verizon's airwaves.
