Motorola MOTOKEY Social, also known as Motorola EX225, has just been officially introduced in Mexico.

The feature-phone will be available for purchase via Telcel from the first weeks of April. Customers who wish to get this affordable handset will have to come up with 1,999 pessos ($155 USD) upfront.

Potential buyers who cannot afford to pay for the pre-paid option can grab the Motorola MOTOKEY Social for free, but they will be required to commit on Telcel 300 plan.

The feature-phone is less than 10mm thin and weighs only 87g (battery included). The handset is aimed at those who are addicted to social networking, hence the name MOTOKEY Social.

It comes with a full portrait QWERTY keyboard, Facebook dedicated key, five different home screens, and a slew of interface themes and built-in links to Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks.

We want our customers to always have the best experience with our services, with the most modern devices and distinctive features. Therefore; we are launching MOTOKEY SOCIAL EX225 in the Mexican market, strengthening our partnership with Motorola,” said Leonel Shofecker, strategic planning deputy director, Telcel.

There’s also a 3-megapixel camera, 50 MB of internal memory, 128 MB of ROM, 64 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone’s standard 910 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 670 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time.

We are committed to launching competitively priced cellular telephones with the features demanded by consumers who still do not have a smartphone, but need access to e-mail, Wi-Fi hotspots and social networks,” added Silvina Gonzalez Podesta, marketing director Motorola Mobility Mexico.
