Motorola XT883 (Milestone 3) Goes Official in China

Today, mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility and wireless carrier China Telecom announced the launch of a new handset on the market in China, the XT883, an Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based device that comes as the third product from Motorola to sport the Milestone name.

The mobile phone should arrive on shelves with support for the wireless carrier's CDMA network, with a powerful dual-core processor packed inside, and with the same side-sliding design as its predecessors.

The mobile phone should offer fast access to email or the web, as well as the ability to run multiple applications at the same time, while also offering talk capabilities, media streaming features, and more.

“XT883 is a mobile powerhouse, delivering uncompromising Web, email and media content to people in China and around the world. The individual with this device in hand will become a digital trailblazer, channeling the strengths of the device to power through their day,” Motorola explains.

The specifications list of the new device would include a large 4.0-inch touchscreen display, along with a thin QWERTY keypad, and enhanced security features when compared to the previously available Motorola Milestone devices.

On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel camera with flash and digital zoom, and with 1080p video recording capabilities, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.

The mobile phone comes with 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, GPS navigation capabilities, and the usual set of connectivity capabilities.

“Motorola's Milestone line has already been a great success in China, and XT883 is a much anticipated addition to the family,” said Ma Daojie, director of the China Telecom Device Management Center.

“We are delighted to introduce XT883 here in Guangzhou at our most important trade show of the year. The launch represents a genuine milestone for China Telecom's partnership with Motorola, and for our combined commitment to bringing great mobile experiences to Chinese consumers.”

According to the mobile phone maker, the new Motorola XT883 is expected to become available for purchase from authorized Motorola resellers and China Telecom's stores around the country sometime in the third quarter of the ongoing year.
