Officially unveiled last month, Motorola XT316 is now available in China and is expected to hit shelves in mid-July in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Latin America. Furthermore, the phone will be released throughout the rest of Asia and in Europe in late summer.

The XT316 will be known as Motorola SPICE Key in Latin America, while in Europe it will be marketed as Motorola FIRE.

The smartphone features a Blackberry-esque form factor and offers users a budget friendly Android solution in a personalized package.

In this regard, the XT316 comes with interchangeable fashion jackets that offer users the option to personalize their Android device.

Among the phone's main attractions, one can notice its full QWERTY keyboard and the 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen.

With a fun, beautiful design and a great package of social media options, Motorola XT316 gives busy users the smartphone experience they crave at a price they can afford,” said Fei Liu, senior vice president, Mass Market Consumer Products, Motorola Mobility.

The handset is equipped with a low-performance Qualcomm MSM7227-1 processor clocked at 600 MHz and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo), though Motorola confirmed that the phone's software will be upgraded to Gingerbread this fall.

In addition, the XT316 comes with Moto Switch user interface, which allows users to switch through different modes.

Motorola XT316 sports a mediocre 3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

With the combination of the physical QWERTY keyboard, the touchscreen display and access to the entertaining apps and games, the Motorola XT316 outperforms other low cost mobile devices,” concluded Fei Liu.

Other highlights of the phone include: HSDPA and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, FM Radio with RDS support, built-in GPS receiver, e-compass and 3.5mm audio jack.

According to Motorola, the phone's 1420 mAh Li-Ion battery provides users up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 30 days of standby in 3G mode.
