Today, mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility announced that it would make available for purchase the Wi-Fi-only flavor of the Motorola XOOM on the Canadian market starting with April.

The new device, packing a 10.1″ HD display and running under Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, can offer a great mobile computing experience.

Motorola XOOM comes with a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor inside, complemented by 1 GB of RAM, which would enable it provide users with a fast web-browsing performance.

The device sports a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, that boasts a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, so that users can video rich video content while on the go.

Moreover, the new tablet PC arrives on shelves with support for various Google Mobile Services, including Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction, Search, Gmail, YouTube, and more.

Not to mention that the Motorola XOOM can provide access to more than 150,000 apps from Android Market, for an even greater experience.

The new Android device would also offer support for features like tabbed browsing, bookmark syncing, or the newly released Adobe Flash Player 10.2 for a leverage Internet browsing experience.

“MOTOROLA XOOM brings PC-like power to a tablet, providing consumers with an easy-to-use, lightning fast experience designed with fun and productivity in mind, and we’re thrilled to bring it to Canadians,” said Jeff Miller, corporate vice president, Motorola Mobility.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a 5-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper with HD video capture capabilities, 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, and accelerometer, as well as support for up to 10 hours of video playback.

According to Motorola, the new XOOM comes with “an ecosystem of intelligent accessories to enhance the tablet experience”:

- A Standard Dock for watching video content or listening to music through external speakers as the device charges - A Speaker HD Dock for sending HD content directly to a TV or clearly listening to music through two built-in speakers – eliminating the need to attach external speakers - A custom keyboard with Bluetooth wireless technology and special Android shortcut keys

At the same time, the mobile phone maker announced that the 3G-enabled version of the new device would be put on sale in Canada in mid-year.
