Costco, Walmart, London Drugs, Bureau En Gros, Staples, Sears Canada, Amazon.ca, Best Buy, Future Shop and TELUS are now retailing the XOOM Wi-Fi Honeycomb tablet starting at $596, Motorola's officials announced.

Although the Wi-Fi model of the XOOM was previously introduced in Canada via Best Buy and Future Shop, along with TELUS carrier, it seems that the U.S.-based handset manufacturer decided to make the tablet available in every other major retailer in Canada.

Motorola XOOM with Wi-Fi is expected to receive the latest 3.1 Honeycomb software update, but no release date has been disclosed yet.

This is the first device in Canada to run on the Honeycomb platform and it offers users the ultimate Android experience.

Equipped with a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1 GB of RAM, Motorola XOOM provides users with true multi-tasking functionality and the latest Google Mobile services on a 10.1 inch widescreen HD multi-touch display.

A 5-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of capturing HD video is also included, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that enables clear video chats using Google Talk.

The Motorola XOOM with Wi-Fi also features a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting.

According to Motorola, the standard 25 Wh Li-Ion battery provides up to 10 hours of video playback and charges in nearly half the time of other tablets available on the market.

In addition to the device, all the retailers in Canada will provide several smart accessories for the Motorola XOOM, such as:

- a Standard Dock for watching video or listening to music through external speakers as the device charges, which is available for $49.95.

- a Speaker HD Dock for sending HD content directly to a TV or clearly listening to music through two built-in speakers that can be bought for $129.95.

- a custom keyboard with Bluetooth wireless technology and special Android shortcut keys that can be purchased separately for $69.95.
