Motorola Mobility has announced that the XOOM tablet will be available in Italy from May 2011 for 700 Euro.

Unfortunately, it looks like Italian customers will have to pay a bit more compared to those living in UK, who can get it for about 650 Euro.

Motorola XOOM is one of the first tablets available on the market to run Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system.

The XOOM boasts a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution to support HD videos and movies.

It features a 2-megapixel front facing camera, as well as a 5-megapixel main camera on the back, which is also capable of capturing HD movies (720p@30fps).

Motorola XOOM is the benchmark for Android 3.0 and what the tablet experience needs to be,” said Paolo Prearo, mobile device business Italy country lead, Motorola Mobility Italia.

Designed from the ground up with users in mind, Motorola XOOM provides additional ways to connect with friends, have fun and stay productive while on the move.”

Although the tablet lacks GSM voice communication capabilities, it offers a wide range of connectivity features such as HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support, as well as microUSB 2.0 and built-in GPS.

Gifted with one of the most powerful dual-core CPUs currently available, the 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor, the tablet improves the users experience on Android widgets, multi-tasking, browsing, gaming, as well as customization.

The device also features the latest Google Mobile services such as Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction, as well as support for Adobe Flash Player.

In addition, Motorola also announced that customers would also be able to buy several accessories meant to improve the content experience: a standard dock, a speaker HD Dock and a custom keyboard with Bluetooth wireless technology and special Android shortcut keys.
