Motorola has just confirmed that its XOOM tablets will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system sometime in the future.

Although Motorola's confirmation doesn't come as a surprise, at least it will put an end to all rumors and speculations that emerged right after Google and Samsung announced the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, along with the latest Android 4.0 platform.

According to Matt, moderator at Motorola's support forum “I don't know anything about if it will be first or not -- have no insight into how other manufacturers do updates -- but Xoom will get ICS. I just don't have any timing to share.”

That being said, we can safely assume that Motorola will deploy the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for XOOM tablets in the following weeks.
