Motorola XOOM, the first tablet PC in the world to come to the market with Google's new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system on board, is now available for purchase in Australia via wireless carrier Optus. The XOOM was launched in the country on Telstra a while ago, but it seems that the carrier's exclusivity on the tablet PC has come to an end, and that others are picking it up as well.

Optus has just started selling the high-end device on their website, and promises that it would arrive in stores on July 1st.

Moreover, the wireless carrier added the tablet PC on a wide range of monthly plans, so that users can have a great deal of buying options at their disposal.

Those who would like to get the Motorola XOOM without paying for it upfront will have to commit to a $59.95/mo plan, which will bring them 10GB of data as well.

Other options include the $20.00 monthly offering on the $29.95 per month plan, which includes 4GB of data, or the $15.00 monthly repayments on a $39.95 per month plan, with 8GB of data to eat.

All these are 24 months contract offerings, to which we can add a series of 12 month offerings that Optus put in place for the XOOM, with the device a little more expensive.

The device goes for 54.08 per month on the $29.95 plan, $41.58 per month on the $39.95 plan, or can be purchase with $33.25 monthly repayments on the $59.95 per month plan.

The Motorola XOOM can be seen on Optus's website here (via Audsroid). All of the necessary details on pricing are available there as well.

Motorola XOOM is redefining what a tablet experience can be as the world’s first device to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Google’s powerful operating system designed specifically for tablets,” Optus explains.

“Motorola XOOM also comes with support for Adobe Flash Player, allowing you to browse the web with full access to Flash sites, videos and games. Enjoy all of this on the Motorola XOOM’s 10.1” HD widescreen display, enabling HD video content that’s richer and clearer than ever before.”
