It might be the first handset to sport NVIDIA’s Tegra 4i chipset

Motorola X Phone, the handset long rumored to be planned as part of Motorola’s new lineup of devices, designed under Google’s supervision, has made a new appearance online, only a few days before Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S IV smartphone is set to be officially unveiled.

The smartphone was rumored before to arrive on the market as a top-of-the-line Android-based device, and a new report on it appears to confirm that, though nothing is official on the device as of now.

Coming from AndroidWorld, said report claims that the upcoming handset will feature a 4.7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, and that it would be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4i processor.

Furthermore, the news site claims that Google and Motorola might pack the phone with impressive imaging and video recording / chatting capabilities, courtesy of a 16-megapixel photo snapper on the back, paired with a 5MP camera on the front.

The device, said to be only 7.9mm thin (it will measure 131.2 x 66.7 x 7.9mm, it seems), is also expected to feature “eye tracking” capabilities, aimed at enabling users to scroll on web pages without touching the screen (Galaxy S IV was rumored to include similar technology as well).

We’ll have to take the info above with a big grain of salt for the time being, but this does not mean that the rumored X Phone (which has been spotted in an allegedly leaked slide as Motorola NXT, though the device there could be only a mockup) might not pack these capabilities inside.

Apparently, Google and Motorola will aim at challenging Samsung’s flagship Android devices with this smartphone, and will not only include similar capabilities inside it, but will also try to create a lot of hype around its launch, so as to shadow Galaxy S IV’s release.

All in all, just as Android Authority notes, the handset might be the first in the world to sport NVIDIA’s Tegra 4i SoC inside, though it remains to be seen what other capabilities it will have to offer, so stay tuned to learn the news.

Update: Apparently, the supposedly leaked photo with the Motorola X Phone is nothing more than a fan-made render. The original image can be seen to the left.
