European RAZR still on track for a Q2 2012 upgrade

It appears that Motorola decided to make some changes to its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich timetable, and things aren’t looking good for US Android fans.

Previously slated for a Q2 2012 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, DROID RAZR has been rescheduled for an unknown time frame. According to the new listing, DROID RAZR along with other DROIDs is now “in evaluation & planning.”

Although Motorola promises that more details will be available later, this could mean only one thing, the company is still trying to find a gap in its way too busy schedule for these updates targeting Android smartphones in the United States.

Other devices that have been rescheduled include the following models: DROID 4, DROID BIONIC, DROID RAZR MAXX, DROID XYBOARD 8.1 and 10.1, Motorola Electrify, as well as XOOM Wi-Fi and 3G.

Some of the devices listed above have been previously slated for a Q3 2012 Android 4.0 rollout, but, just like the DROID RAZR, they all feature the “in evaluation & planning” tag now.

In fact almost all Motorola Android devices that have been confirmed for an Ice Cream Sandwich are now “in evaluation & planning” with a few exceptions, such as MOTOROLA XOOM Family Edition, ATRIX 2, ATRIX 4G and PHOTON 4G, which are scheduled to receive the upgrade in Q2 and Q3 2012.

Obviously, this does not mean that some of these devices won’t qualify for a Q2 Ice Cream Sandwich rollout, but things aren’t looking that optimistic anymore.

On the other hand, European Motorola RAZR is still on track to receive the Android 4.0 upgrade in Q2 2012. The update will be deployed in Middle East and Africa as well.

Motorola also plans to deploy Ice Cream Sandwich updates for European versions of XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition in Q3 2012.
