Starting with July 20th, Virgin Mobile customers will be able to purchase a new Android-based handset on the airwaves of their wireless carrier, namely the Motorola TRIUMPH.

Today, the mobile phone carrier announced a series of changes to its plan pricing, set to be put in place as soon as July 20th is here, and it also confirmed that the new device will be put for sale on that day.

At the moment, the Motorola TRIUMPH is available for pre-order in the United States via Best Buy, with a price tag of $299,99 attached to it.

This is the first Android handset that Virgin Mobile launches from Motorola, and should prove a great option for all of the wireless services provider's users.

The handset runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, and sports highly appealing hardware specifications, along with the promise of increased performance capabilities.

“Motorola TRIUMPH is the ultimate media machine with a 4.1-inch WVGA display for convenient Web browsing and entertainment,” Motorola notes.

“Make your multimedia experience even better with the 5-megapixel camera and front-facing VGA camera for video chat with friends and family. Or if you prefer big screen viewing, the HDMI out hook-up lets you easily watch videos and movies on a flat screen.”

The new Android smartphone is powered by a fast 1GHz application processor, and comes with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset's specs also include Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI port, built-in GPS receiver, and a 1400 mAh battery inside, capable of delivering up to 500min of talk time or up to 300 hours of standby time.

It also offers access to the Android Market, so that users can download and install various applications and games, as well as support for a wide range of services tailored for Android devices.

“Stay connected and navigate through your busy days with access to corporate email, social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and a full suite of Google services like Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk and more,” Motorola continues.
