Although one might wonder just why anyone woulds still use a two-way radio (better known as a walkie-talkie) in the age of the smartphone, the truth of the matter is that these things can still come in handy in certain specific situations, especially when there's no network coverage.

And for this reason, Motorola, one of the companies still involved in the manufacturer of two-way radios via its TALKABOUT brand, has decided to make them a bit more friendly and made available a couple of designer face plates for some of these products, including the MR350R model (which is actually one of the main subject of this promo offering).

So, according to Motorola, through December 31, 2010, consumers who purchase select Motorola Talkabout two-way radios can choose a free set of faceplates and personalize their radios with ten custom color designs including Black, Silver, Yellow, Blaze Orange, Pink, Green, Digital Camouflage Silver, Digital Camouflage Pink, Wood Grain and American Pride.

Each faceplate is entirely unique and individually decorated using a water transfer printing technique called Final Finish by Immersion Graphics that is so realistic that comparisons of the decorated product look identical to the real material.

The holiday faceplate promotion is available with purchase of Motorola MR356R, MR355R, MR350R, MR350RVP and MJ270R two-way radio series, all of which provide some pretty interesting survival-related features and, more importantly, extensive functioning ranges.

Plus, some of these radios are equipped with emergency preparedness features including an emergency alert feature, built-in LED flashlight and seven National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/ Environment Canada (EC) weather channels and four marine VHF channels, which receive continuous broadcasts of local and regional weather updates.

Plus, these things are not even that expensive, the MR350R, for example, selling for somewhere in the vicinity of $79.99 per pair, with the sales package sporting a fairly large number of useful accessories.
