Spotted at yesterday's Google-Verizon announcement

It was only yesterday that Verizon and Google announced that a series of mobile phones running under the Android operating system would soon become available for purchase through the wireless carrier, and now various images with the supposedly first two such devices to come to Big Red have emerged into the wild. To be more precise, these can be seen in a photo taken at yesterday's conference held by Eric Schmidt, chairman and CEO of Google, left, and Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Wireless, right.

The handsets that were caught into the wild at the press conference Google and Verizon jointly held on Tuesday should be none other than the Motorola Sholes / Tao / Droid, which has been rumored to come for the past few months now, and the HTC Hero, or the variant that should soon come to Sprint, and which was already said to be of interest to Verizon.

For what it's worth, both handsets have been expected to make their appearance in the carrier's offering, although we had our doubts on whether Big Red would snag the HTC Hero or not, considering that an HTC Desire was rumored not too long ago to bring Android to its users. However, the fact that these two phones were seen at a conference where Google and Verizon announced their cooperation on the development of Android phones only suggests that one of them should be soon launched on the market.

The phone that will probably come first is the Motorola Sholes. Although it hasn't been announced officially just yet, Verizon said that an Android-based device would come to its airwaves in the following weeks, and Motorola also stated a few times that a new Android handset would come out of its labs in the near future. Especially since some of the latest rumors on the web suggest that October 30 might be the lucky day for Sholes. Sit tight as more details on this emerge.
