Mobile phone maker Motorola is reportedly working on a new handset that runs under Google's Android operating system and which sports high-end specifications, namely the Motorola Shadow. The handset was spotted into the wild before, yet this time it seems to be closer to prove real, as it has just received certification from the Wi-Fi Forum.

The Motorola Shadow sports model number MB810. Previous rumors on this device suggested that it might arrive on the market as the Nexus Two, but recent speculations point towards it as being called Motorola DROID2. Not to mention that there are some stating that Motorola would be working on two such devices, and that one will arrive with a QWERTY keyboard, namely the DROID2, while the other would be launched without a physical keyboard, this one being the Shadow or Nexus Two.

Specific details on what Motorola actually has in mind with the handset are missing for the time being, though a series of rumored specs of the Motorola Shadow did emerge into the wild. Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity will certainly be included in the package, as the Wi-Fi certificate published on Wi-Fi.org here (PDF link) shows.

Other possible specifications of the said device would include a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that boasts an 854 x 480 pixels resolution, complemented by an 8-megapixel photo snapper with dual LED flash and HD video recording (most probably 720p). The handset is also rumored to come with an HDMI out port and a TI OMAP 3630 processor (running at 720MHz, it seems) coupled with 512MB of RAM (Additional details are available on Mobile-review forum here).

The Motorola Shadow/DROID2 should come in a thin body, while being powered by Google's Android 2.1 OS, on top of which Motorola might pre-load its MOTOBLUR user interface. The handset is expected to be launched in the US via Verizon Wireless, with a possible launch time frame being set at June, though this aspect remains in the rumor side too. There are no details available on the possibility that it might be launched in other markets as well.
