Motorola has won a contract with TeliaSonera in Denmark to deploy its commercial UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) fixed mobile convergence solution for the operator's planned UMA service launch in the second half of 2006.

For TeliaSonera's customers in
Denmark, the UMA-based service will offer lower-cost mobile calls with better coverage and higher capacity in the home where WLAN access is present. In addition, users will have a seamless mobile experience when moving in and out of the home using a single device, single number, contacts book, voicemail and bill.

This contract win follows successful trials in 2005 and 2006 with TeliaSonera in Denmark and represents an important step forward in delivering Motorola's vision of Seamless Mobility. The standards-compliant UMA solution TeliaSonera selected from Motorola for Denmark includes network infrastructure and integration and deployment services. Also in Denmark, TeliaSonera has tried Motorola's A910 device and its UMA-based connected home solutions that enable seamless access around the home.

Jesper Broeckner, President, Telia Denmark said, "TeliaSonera in Denmark has tested the Motorola UMA solution since 2005 and we are very satisfied with the cooperation with Motorola on this project. We are confident about Motorola's knowledge and are looking forward to launching the first UMA-based services later this year."
