Sony Ericsson Vivaz also close to AT&T's airwaves

Wireless carrier AT&T is reportedly preparing the release of at least two new Android-based mobile phones on its airwaves. One of these devices has emerged only recently in the form of Motorola Sage, which is said to have already received FCC approvals for use on the North American continent, while the other device was officially released into the wild last year as the XPERIA X10, Sony Ericsson’s first Android-based mobile phone.

According to the guys over at Engadget, which came up with a series of photos of the new Android-based Motorola Sage, the new device is expected to be release into the wild with Google's Android 2.1 operating system on board, on top of which Motorola should pre-load its Motoblur solution. However, it seems that the device would arrive with a Motoblur 2 skin on top of Android, just as the recently released DROID X sports.

The new QWERTY slider should pack some nice specs at launch, including HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps capabilities, a 3.1 inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth connectivity options, GPS receiver, and more. No specific info on the handset's exact release date emerged, nor on its pricing, but it might not be too long before AT&T and Motorola decide to bring all the necessary details to light, it seems.

As for the second AT&T-bound Android-based device that made it into the wild today, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, we hear that the carrier has finally let it pass through its technical acceptance process. Rumors on X10's possible launch on AT&T emerged quite a while ago, and it seems that they might be finally getting ready to pan out, as the device might get launched within a matter of weeks, a recent article on BGR notes. No exact details on its pricing emerged, but chances are that it would cost around $150 on a two-year contract. Rumor has it that Vivaz would also arrive at AT&T soon. Keep an eye on this space for more on the matter.
