14 DAY TRIAL // Motorola, Inc.'s Networks business announced today the roll-out of a TD-LTE network at the Expo Center for World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, as well as the successful completion of the first indoor over-the-air (OTA) TD-LTE data session at the location. According to the maker, this deployment represents another milestone in the industry efforts towards commercialization of TD-LTE, and also shows Motorola's commitment to support TDD spectrum operators in China and globally.
The company's move in the area follows its selection as main equipment supplier for indoor TD-LTE coverage at Shanghai Expo, which was announced last year by China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC). Motorola will deliver TD-LTE USB dongles and end-to-end TD-LTE solution at the Expo, while also leveraging its orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) expertise. As the manufacturer indicates, visitors will enjoy high-definition video on demand, remote monitoring and other applications at the event.

Motorola is one of the few vendors investing in FDD-LTE and TD-LTE, as well as in other wireless technologies. The company has already made a wide range of OFDM innovations, which arrive on the market in products like Motorola's PTP and PMP solution portfolio, or in the 802.16e WiMAX solutions. At the same time, it states that it managed to achieve optimal peak throughput for TD-LTE in the field, after doing so in the lab too, and that it will demo key capabilities over the TD-LTE network, such as hand-over with live applications and more.
