Motorola announced a few days ago it has started an Android 5.1 Lollipop soak test for Moto X (1st Gen) and Moto X (2nd Gen) in several countries, India included.

According to the US-based company, the soak test for Moto X (2nd Gen) was available for the following retail channels: Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore and Sweden.

In addition, Motorola confirmed it kicked off a similar soak test for Moto X (1st Gen) for the following retail channels: Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and United Arab Emirates.

The handset maker promised that “if all goes well we would expect full deployments to start next week.”

True to its promise, Motorola has started the full deployment of Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Moto X (1st Gen), but for the time being the upgrade is only available in a few countries.

The update is only available in three countries for the moment

Motorola's David Schuster announced that his company has “started full deployment of the 5.1 Android Lollipop upgrade for Moto X (1st Gen) for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada.”

Although the update is only available in three countries for the moment, we expect Android 5.1 Lollipop for Moto X (1st Gen) to be rolled out in additional regions in the next couple of days.

If you own a retail Moto X (1st Gen) in United States or Brazil, as well as Rogers version of the smartphone, then you can manually check for the update if you haven't been notified yet.

You can do that by heading to Settings / About phone / System updates / Yes, I'm in / Install now. The smartphone should reboot automatically once the new software is installed.

Keep in mind that your phone's battery should be at least 50% charged prior to installing the new Android 5.1 Lollipop update. For the full list of new features and improvements, make sure you check out the official changelog.
