Shortly after T-Mobile kicked off the rollout of Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for Nexus devices, Google started to deploy the upgrade for various Play Edition smartphones.

True to its promise, Motorola managed to be among the first handset makers to offer the latest Android update for some of its products.

According to the company, Moto X, Moto G and Moto E should start receiving the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update beginning this week.

However, not all units will receive the update initially. Motorola has announced that this week, Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will be available for Moto X owners who purchase their smartphones through T-Mobile USA’s retail channels.

In addition, Moto G users who bought their devices in the United States and at retail in Brazil are also eligible for the upgrade. Owners of Motorola Moto 4G LTE will be able to download the update this week as well.

The third Motorola smartphone that has been confirmed to receive the latest Android update is Moto E. Still, only Moto E owners who bought the device online in the United States will be able to upgrade to Android 4.4.3 KitKat this week.

Motorola also mentions that this will not be the last update that the Moto E will receive and that owners are “still up for the next major Android update as well.”

But for those interested only in the main features added by Android 4.4.3 KitKat, here is a quick recap. First of all, the update brings an improved phone dialer with new interface and vivid colors.

The camera bug has been fixed, along with other issues previously reported by users. Some enhancements to the power profile have been included as well.

Aside from the changes included in Android 4.4.3 KitKat, Motorola has also added its own set of improvements for the trio of smartphones.

For example, Moto X users will notice that the camera image quality has been improved with better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and enhanced photos in low light conditions with the front camera.

Another improvement for Moto X and Moto G users is the addition of a pause/resume button on the viewfinder that will allow them to pause for video recording.

Last but not least, there’s a new application called Motorola Alert, which will be preloaded on Moto X and Moto G devices. The application is meant to send periodic messages to the contacts that users choose.

Keep in mind that once you update to Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system, you will not be able to downgrade to a previous version.
