As expected, Motorola Mobility has just announced its financial results, but this doesn’t looks promising at all. Motorola reported an $80 million net loss due to “increased competitive environment” in the smartphone and tablet markets.

That’s a 180 degrees turn in net earnings from the same quarter one year ago when the company reported an $80 million net profit.

Motorola reported net revenues of $3.4 billion in Q4 2011, which are about the same numbers from Q4 2010. Unfortunately, the losses were bigger in the fourth quarter of 2011.

As for 2011 financial results, Motorola reported net revenues of $13.1 billion, up 14% from the last year. It is also worth mentioning that the company’s GAAP net loss was $0.84 per share compared to a loss of $0.29 per share in 2010.
