Motorola V950, first presented by Sprint to the US public back in April, is now finally available for purchase, under the full name of Motorola Renegade V950.

The latest PTT (Push-to-Talk) device to work on Sprint's Nextel Direct Connect network, the V950 is a clamshell in which "brawn meets beauty," as the US carrier says. Weighing 4.16 ounces and measuring 4.1 x 2.1 x 0.66 inches (when not flipped), the new Moto meets the 810F military standards for dust, vibration, shock and "blowing rain."

Motorola Renegade features Qualcomm QChat technology, GPS to go with Sprint Navigation, a 2.2 inch TFT internal display with 262K colors and a QVGA resolution, Music player, stereo Bluetooth, email and Web capabilities, Instant Messaging, NFL Mobile Live, Sprint TV and Sprint Music Store, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, speakerphone and microSD card support. The clamshell comes with an 1100 mAh battery said to last up to 4 hours in talk-time mode (the stand-by time was not unveiled).

"Nextel Direct Connect is critical to Sprint's position as the dominant player in the push-to-talk and GPS solution categories. Sprint is committed to Nextel Direct Connect and will continue to expand capabilities and options for our customers. With the addition of the Renegade V950, Sprint customers have another rough and tumble handset delivering the fastest national push-to-talk network matched with Sprint's largest voice calling area and the nation's largest mobile broadband network so they can do even more, faster," stated Danny Bowman, president of Nextel Direct Connect for Sprint.

Users who feel that Moto's Renegade would suit their mobile needs can find the handset in Sprint's stores or they can order it via telesales by calling 1-800-SPRINT-1. The Renegade is priced at 129.99 USD with the signing of a contract agreement for two years (and after a $50 mail-in rebate).
