Moto X (2nd gen) and Pure Edition will be the first

It looks like Motorola will be the next handset maker to release Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its smartphones. In fact, since Google is not really a handset manufacturer, Motorola could the first to offer this particular update.

The US-based company has already put two webpages up that confirm the upcoming availability of Android 5.1 Lollipop for two different Motorola smartphones.

This isn't the first time we learn about an Android 5.1 Lollipop coming to a Motorola smartphone and it surely won't be the last. Last month a changelog for Motorola Moto X (1st gen) leaked online, but it was an indication that the US company is gearing up for a massive rollout of the update.

Today, Motorola basically confirmed Android 5.1 Lollipop will soon be available for Moto X (2nd gen) at AT&T, but also for the Pure Edition version at T-Mobile.

These will probably be among the first to receive Android 5.1 Lollipop update, but Motorola will surely continue the rollout worldwide.

The update brings many bug fixes and tweaks

Android 5.1 Lollipop changelog for both Motorola smartphones are identical, so let's see what are the most important changes included in the update.

First of all, there are lots of usability improvements, such as the option to block interruptions until the next alarm. This particular option will only show when you have an alarm set within the next 12 hours.

In addition, users will now be able to choose to enter a scheduled downtime early. The update also brings some icons to the volume settings panel that match those that will show in the status bar (None, Priority).

Furthermore, the update will add the option to alter notification volume controls while media is playing. Also, users will now be able to swipe a heads-up notification to remove it from the screen. It will remain in the notifications tray and you can dismiss it later.
