Available in time for Christmas?

It looks like Motorola ROKR E8 will indeed be released before Christmas this year, as expected, since it appears in Fergie's video for her latest single, "Clumsy". Actually there is no official information saying that the phone we can see between 3:10 and 3:19 is indeed ROKR E8, but the chances of being another phone are smaller than the smallest microchip from the smallest micro-device existent on Earth.

Now, for those wondering why the new Motorola handset appears in Fergie's video, the answer is simple: the Black Eyed Peas female singer is a Motorola spokesperson and it's not the first time she promotes the brand. Besides, ROKR E8 seems to be one of the most evolved music phones that we know of, so what better place to show it than a music video from a popular singer?

What's special about Motorola ROKR E8 is its keypad design that really looks innovative. The phone doesn't have buttons, instead it uses a touch-sensitive technology and comes with a back-illuminated keypad that morphs into a music player controller when needed. The morphing keypad features Haptic feedback that allows users to feel vibrations every time they touch the light-keys, simulating the sensation of pressing a real button. Furthermore, the phone has a new and easy to use music and menu navigation controller called "Omega Wheel".

Other features of ROKR E8 are not as appealing as its keypad, but are not bad either. The phone has GPRS and EDGE support (no 3G unfortunately), a 2 Megapixel camera, FM radio, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and, most importantly, 2GB of internal memory and microSD slot, allowing users to store as much music as they want.

The Motorola ROKR E8 music phone is expected to hit the market for a price of about $410 or 280 Euros.
