Good news for those who still own the RAZR i, as Motorola has just decided that the smartphone is worthy of another major upgrade. The handset was launched on the market back in October 2012 with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

However, Motorola has already delivered a Jelly Bean upgrade for the RAZR i, and the US-based handset maker stated at some point that “this device is currently running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), future plan coming soon,”

The message mentioned above was posted on Motorola's support webpage for quite a long time until the company decided to replace it with the confirmation that the RAZR i will receive the KitKat upgrade: “this device will be upgraded to KitKat (Android 4.4.2).”

Unfortunately, there are no details on when exactly the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Motorola RAZR i will be available for download, but we suspect the US-based company will be rolling out the in the coming months.

For the time being, Motorola is in the process of finishing the rollout of the KitKat update for the Moto X and Moto G, which is why the RAZR i wasn't confirmed earlier.

Now that its newer handsets have gotten their upgrade, it's time for Motorola to turn its attention to much older products.
