The RAZR MAXX is currently exclusively available in the United States through Verizon Wireless. In an unexpected move, Motorola decided to bring the smartphone to other regions as well.

The company has just announced the upcoming availability of Motorola RAZR MAXX in Europe and the Middle East from May 2012.

The smartphone will be available in select markets for prices that will probably be disclosed closer to launch. Although there’s no info on the RAZR MAXX’s price tag yet, we can safely assume that this one will priced close to the original RAZR.

There are few differences between the original RAZR model and the RAZR MAXX, but the most important is the battery.

In fact, the 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery is Motorola RAZR MAXX’s selling point. It is rated by the manufacturer for up to 380 hours of standby time or up to 17.6 hours of talk time.

The smartphone will be shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, but it will get an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade soon after launch.

In addition, the RAZR MAXX is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and packs 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera for video calls.

Motorola RAZR MAXX comes with a similar 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display as the original RAZR. It supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

RAZR MAXX isn’t changing the rules - it’s creating a whole new game. Building on the RAZR heritage it combines the pinnacle of design with mind-blowing power and an incredible battery life that is perfect for people who want to push their smartphone to the limits,” said Maurizio Angelone, vice president and general manager, mobile devices, EMEA, Motorola Mobility.
