The RAZR MAXX has finally reached South African shores. The smartphone is now available for purchase for a suggested retail price of 800 USD (640 EUR) outright.

However, Motorola also mentioned that the RAZR MAXX would be available through major carriers and retailers across the country, such as Cell C, 8ta, Autopage and Nashua. No word on the subsidized pricing options yet.

Motorola RAZR MAXX has been recently introduced in Brazil with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform onboard, though the company does not make any mentions on the South African RAZR MAXX.

It will be interesting to see if customers in South Africa will be able to get the same ICS-based Motorola RAZR MAXX device as Brazilian users.

Aside from the fact that it’s the most powerful Android smartphone launched by Motorola on the market, the RAZR MAXX also features an incredible 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery, which provide users with up to 25 days of standby time or up to 17.6 hours of talk time.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Just like the original Motorola RAZR Android phone, the RAZR MAXX embeds 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The device also sports a vibrant 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Since we re-imagined the iconic RAZR brand, the Motorola RAZR has wowed consumers across the globe by combining the pinnacle of design with mind-blowing power. RAZR MAXX builds on those same principles, delivering an incredible battery life that is perfect for South African consumers who want to push their smartphone to the limits and banish the low battery beep to history,” said Dorothy Matemba, Motorola Mobility sub-Saharan Africa head of marketing.
