The HC700-L Pocket PC Phone Edition model represents Motorola's debut on the commercial segment of mobile computing. And if we are to believe the company officials' statements, over the period to come, we should expect even more of these launchings.

The HC700 lineup is built
on the Intel Bulverde Xscale processor which runs at 416MHz, and the users can choose between Microsoft Windows Mobile and Windows.CE.Net as their operating system.

The device is fitted with a touchscreen type display, an omni-directional area imager for ID/2D barcode imaging and has both WiFi and Bluetooth communications capabilities.

Why are we saying that the HC700-L model is a tough handheld? Because from Motorola's information, this handheld was tested and designed for military usage and its durability and resistance in harsh conditions are criteria any military device should fulfill.

Motorola is planning to launch this device in 2006.
