Mobile phone maker Motorola is currently gearing up for the release of the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for more owners of Moto X devices, as it has started sending out invitations to a soak test aimed at AT&T’s customers.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Motorola started to deliver the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system version to its Moto X users around the world over a month ago.

The platform upgrade has already arrived on devices at various wireless carriers in the United States as well, including T-Mobile and Verizon.

AT&T’s version of the mobile phone, however, appears to be late to the party, but the good news is that the update is finally ready to start arriving on these smartphones as well.

As it turns out, Motorola has already sent invitations for the soak test to AT&T Moto X users who are also members of the Motorola Feedback Network, a recent post on Android Central reads.

No specific info on when the rollout will begin has been provided as of now, though we suspect that users will start seeing the platform emerging on their devices in a week or two.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS upgrade will provide users with a variety of security enhancements, while also delivering a series of additional improvements.

Following the update, users should enjoy better camera picture quality, as well as improved photos when shooting in fluorescent lighting.

Moreover, the update will allow users to pause video recording, as it will bring a brand new pause/resume button on the camera viewfinder when in video mode.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat arrived on Moto X at other US wireless carriers with enhanced dynamic range and with new graphical layout and colors for phone dialer align with improved consistency and usability, and it should receive the same improvements on AT&T’s network as well.

Most probably, Motorola and AT&T will offer some more info on the new update in the not-too-distant future, maybe as soon as the soak test kicks off in the next few weeks.

Those who are not taking part in the soak test will have to wait a bit longer for the software update to be released to them as well, though chances are that the testing phase will be completed in a matter of days after its initial rollout.

As soon as Moto X receives Android 4.4.4 KitKat at AT&T, we should see Motorola delivering the update to devices on Sprint’s network as well.
