Google's acquisition of Motorola, which actually completed only a couple of months ago, is already bearing fruit.
During an event to showcase Motorola's latest releases, CEO Dennis Woodside announced that these new phones, the
Motorola RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD, and all to come after them would have Chrome pre-installed and ready to go.
They're actually the first phones to bundle Chrome, though the Nexus 7 is the first device ever to have Chrome built in. The default browser may still be in there, but the trend is clear, Google wants Chrome to be the main Android browser.
However, the regular browser is not going anywhere. For one, not all other phone makers will want to bundle Google's browser. Motorola did it since it's fully owned by Google now, it remains to be seen whether anyone else will.
Further, the browser is an integral part of the open source project. That said, it is possible to build Chromium, which is open source too, for Android.
