Today, wireless carrier Sprint has officially unveiled that the newly announced Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE smartphone is now available for pre-order for its customers.

The new mobile phone is set to become commercially available on August 19th, featuring a price tag of $199.99 (excludes taxes) with the signing of a new two-year contract agreement with Sprint.

The handset will be available at the same price tag for those users eligible for an upgrade, the wireless carrier also announced.

“Customers who pre-order Motorola PHOTON Q will begin receiving their smartphone as early as two days before the device goes on sale – while supplies last,” the mobile phone carrier announced.

Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE lands on shelves at Sprint as the carrier’s first smartphone to pack both LTE connectivity and a sliding QWERTY keyboard, while also being the first to include international connectivity capabilities.

“At Sprint, we recognize there is a large group of our customers that love the ease of a physical QWERTY keyboard,” David Owens, vice president – product development at Sprint, said.

“By bringing a device like Motorola PHOTON Q into our portfolio, we are able to give these customers the option of a physical keyboard plus international roaming capabilities to stay connected while traveling abroad.”

The new device lands on shelves with a large 4.3-inch ColorBoost display on the front, while being powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core application processor and running under Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The handset also features an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, packs 1GB of RAM inside, and 8GB of internal memory, expandable via microSD memory cards.

At Sprint, it will arrive pre-loaded with a nice range of software and features, such as NFC support to share links, apps and more, Mirror mode when connected with HDMI cable, Sprint ID, and Sprint Professional Grade designation.
