Motorola Olympus, one of the high-end mobile phones expected to arrive on shelves in the not too far future with Google's Android operating system on board, might be released in the US before the end of the ongoing year. Long rumored to be on its way to wireless carrier AT&T in the United States, the device might have just got its launch window unveiled to the world via the AT&T Share Facebook page.

When asked by a fan about the upcoming mobile phone, AT&T stated that it expects for it to be released sometime in December or January.

Of course, it's not every day that one carrier unveils so easily info on a yet unannounced smartphone, and, as proof of that, AT&T quickly pulled that answer off its Facebook wall.

However, some lucky ones managed to take a shot of the said answer, and BGR brought the news to the Internet. “The Motorola Olympus should be available in December or January,” the said post reads.

In the meantime, AT&T issued a statement on the matter as well, saying that “This response was posted erroneously. We don’t have any information to share about upcoming devices.”

Currently, no official info on Motorola Olympus was made available, but, provided that the “leaked” release time frame will indeed pan out, it should not be too long before a formal announcement is made.

In case there are some who might have not encountered the Motorola Olympus before, we should note that this is a a dual-core Android mobile phone that packs an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip inside.

This appears to be the first true high-end Android-based smartphone that would land on shelves at AT&T, though official confirmation on it remains to emerge.

The phone reportedly sports the model number MB860, runs under Android 2.2.1, and packs Motorola's Motoblur interface on top of Google's mobile operating system.

The Olympus would be only one of the devices packing a Tegra 2 chip that should land on shelves soon. Previous reports suggested that early 2011 would bring both smartphones and tablet PCs powered by the hardware solution to shelves.
