It seems that for those who have been waiting for a long time for mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless to finally unveil the Motorola Napoleon Q9, a device that is expected to come around with global roaming capabilities, the wait is almost over. Recently, some new pictures with the device have emerged to the Web, suggesting that the operator might get close to releasing the phone.

For the time being, there is no official word on the exact availability of the Motorola Napoleon Q9, yet the photos show the device sporting the Verizon Wireless branding, which could indicate a near launch date.

The Motorola Q9 Napoleon has been said to be one of the most appealing phones to be released by Motorola. Given the fact that it will be a global handset, its features will attract even more. At the same time, these capabilities are also expected to allow users to surf Verizon Wireless’ CDMA-based 3G network in the US, while also being able to connect to any GSM network when abroad.

Besides the dual-band CDMA and quad-band GSM radios the mobile phone maker has included with the device, there is also a 2-megapixel camera awaiting to be used, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity, a 320×240 resolution screen, and a 1500mAh battery. A rather nice feature the handset should deliver is a fingerprint scanner for security on the back of the phone. The new Motorola Q9 Napoleon is meant to offer what its predecessor was unable to do.

Up until now, although expected to do so for quite a while, Motorola and Verizon haven't released the Motorola Napoleon Q9 running under the Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system to the market, and some even thought that the world-phone might not even become reality. Hopefully, this time the rumors will prove to be true and we'll be able to get our hands on one of these devices in the near future.
