After hitting shelves in the United States earlier this month, Motorola Moto G 4G has finally arrived in the UK. Unlike the standard version of Moto G, the enhanced version comes with 4G support and provides users with the option to expand storage via microSD card slot.

For the time being, Motorola Moto G 4G is only available through major retailer Phones4u for £160 (€200 / $270) outright, which is rather high in comparison with the US version of the smartphone that’s now selling for just $220 (£130 / €160).

It’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone is available in black and white, whereas the white version is exclusive to Phones4u retailer, so you won’t find it anywhere else, at least for a certain period.

Obviously, customers who do not wish to pay the upfront price for the Moto G 4G or can’t afford it, can instead grab the phone for free on select plans starting at only £18.99 per month.

Keep in mind that Phones4u only offers the 8GB variant of the smartphone, but Motorola has announced that a 16GB version will be available at some point as well.

When it comes to hardware and software configuration, the Moto G 4G comes with similar specs as the standard Moto G model, with a few exceptions that we have already mentioned earlier.

Basically, the newer model offers 4G support and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), whereas the original Moto G lacks both.

Those who already own the first Moto G model will probably want to upgrade to the new version if they wish to take advantage of 4G data speeds.

Aside from these differences, both smartphones are similar specs-wise. The Moto G 4G ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, but Motorola has already confirmed that the smartphone will soon receive an Android 4.4.3 KitKat update.

However, this will not be the last software upgrade released by Motorola, as Google has just released Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Nexus devices.

On the inside, the Moto G 4G is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The phone sports a large 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

It also packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
