They will be available for only $180 (€140) and $500 (€385), respectively

As expected, Motorola Mobility announced two new Android smartphones that are supposed to boost its revenues even further. After the success of the Moto G, which set new sales records for the US-based company, Motorola has decided to bring its sequel to the market.

There aren’t any surprises regarding the smartphone’s specs sheet, instead we’ve been surprised by the fact that Motorola has chosen the same name for its budget-friendly handset.

Instead of having a Moto G2, we will now be looking to purchase the same Moto G, just that this one is the second generation, so when you’re asking for this particular smartphone be careful to get the right version.

According to Motorola, the Moto G (2014) will be available for purchase for only $179.99 (€140) outright beginning today. The smartphone won’t be available globally, but you can get it if you live in one of these countries: India, Brazil, Spain, Germany, France and the UK.

The Moto G (2014) will go on sale in other countries as well before the end of the year, but more details on the launch date for each country will be shared later on.

Potential customers considering the purchase of the new Moto G may want to know that the smartphone ships with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and packs a standard 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.

The smartphone is also armed with an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and either 8 or 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded via microSD card slot.

The new Moto G is powered by a 2070 mAh battery and sports a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass, as well as dual cameras (8-megapixel rear photo snapper and 2-megapixel secondary camera).

The New Moto X is Motorola's next flagship smartphone

Moving on to the next device that’s been unveiled by Motorola, the Moto X is aimed at the high-end segment of the market. This is why the new Moto X will be available for purchase for $500 (€385) outright, which is pretty decent considering that we’re talking about a flagship smartphone.

Just like the Moto G (2014), the new Moto X comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat on board and boasts a vibrant 5.2-inch FHD (1080p) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass and 423ppi (pixel per inch).

On the inside, the flagship handset is equipped with a powerful 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the same that powers the Galaxy S5. It also packs 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

Unfortunately, the new Moto X lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion, which is a major downside for a flagship smartphone. I sincerely can’t understand why Motorola decided to go without this option inside its best handset.

Anyway, the 13-megapixel camera on the back is a real beast, Motorola claims. It features dual-LED ring flash and 4K video recording capabilities. Last but not least, the new Moto X is powered by a non-removable 2300 mAh battery and the smartphone comes with improved voice commands and gesture controls that make use of the built-in IR sensors.

As mentioned earlier, the new Moto X will be available for purchase later this month for $500 (€385) upfront, but customers in the US will also be able to get it for only $99 (€75) on 2-year contracts via AT&T and Verizon.

Aside from the United States, Motorola plans to bring its new Moto X smartphone to Germany, France, UK and Mexico. The Moto Maker program that allows customers to choose their preferred back cover (material and color) will be available in some European countries from the start as well.
