The unlocked version of Motorola's new Moto E smartphone is already available for purchase in the United States through the company's official online store.

However, the 4G LTE smartphone can be had for $150 from Motorola's store, which is quite decent considering what the Moto E (2nd Gen) has to offer in terms of specs.

The good news for Sprint customers is that the same smartphone is now available from their favorite carrier for just $100 outright.

Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) can now be purchased in black or white through Sprint Prepaid (Best Buy and RadioShack) and Boost Mobile for the price mentioned earlier.

According to Sprint, the same smartphone, but only in Black, will also be available from Virgin Mobile (Walmart) beginning March 9.

The Moto E (2nd Gen) ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box, but considering Motorola has been updating most of its new smartphones regardless of specs to the latest version of the OS, we expect this one to receive Android 5.1 Lollipop as well.

The insides of the Moto E (2nd Gen) aren't that appealing, but they are pretty decent considering the low price.

One of the best $100 Android smartphones available on the market

For example, the smartphone is equipped with a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, which is complemented by an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit.

It also packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the back, there's a decent 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, but no LED flash. In the front, there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Apart from 4G LTE support, the Moto E (2nd Gen) also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, GPS with AGPS support and FM Radio.
