The round watch will be shipped in various color options besides black

Motorola has managed to draw the attention of the public to its Moto 360 smartwatch just by giving the device a perfectly round screen, but that won't sell the gadget on its own, so the company has also set out to ensure design variety.

Which is to say, the Moto 360 smartwatch will not only be up for sale with a black body and strap, or watchband / belt.

Indeed, Motorola will sell the device in at least seven color options, though it might be saying a bit much, since they all are just a different tone of grey.

There is a metallic silver-colored one, which stands out a bit more than the others, but at the end of the day it, too, is just another step on the same monochrome scale.

The company may have felt that selling the device in red, orange, yellow or any other number of bright colors would not have fit the feel of it.

Or it might have simply gone with common sense: black and white, and gradients, are the “colors” that fit with every style of wear.

Motorola will have a hard enough time just selling the thing because of the sophisticated design and internal hardware.

After all, there must be a reason why the price hasn't even been hinted at yet. It could be because it won't be as low as some may hope.

Instead of aiming at the bulk of the consumer base, Motorola is obviously looking at those likely to want to make a fashion statement.

Otherwise, it would have just gone with the standard, rectangular display, and used a normal, anti-allergic rubber strap and called it a day. The Moto 360 would also not have been given a wireless charging technology.

We've already laid out the specifications of the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, but we'll summarize them again, such as they are. Though keep in mind that they haven't been confirmed.

The Moto 360 has a round OLED screen (probably AMOLED) with Sapphire glass protecting it, an ARM processor (possibly Qualcomm), and magnetic induction wireless charging (no USB connectivity).

Finally, the Android Wear operating system which Google launched last week will be installed on it, like on probably every other smartwatch that will be released this year, or at least the vast majority of them.
