Mobile phone maker Motorola has recently announced the launch of a new Android-based device on the European market, the Motorola Milestone XT720, which should land on shelves as an upgraded version of the Motorola Motoroi, launched earlier this year on the market in Korea. The handset is expected to arrive in the near future in the UK, though other European countries should also receive it soon, and the first TV commercial with it made it into the wild.

The new handset sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel (WVGA) resolution, accompanied by an 8-megapixel photo snapper with 10x digital zoom capabilities, Xenon Flash, HD video recording and a nice range of other functionalities. Moreover, the Motorola Milestone XT720 sports an HDMI port, enabling users view videos or photos captured with the 8MP camera on an HDTV.

Running under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, the new mobile phone is 10.9mm thick, it sports the company's own touchscreen user interface, while sporting multi-tasking capabilities for an enhanced experience while on the go. Another appealing feature is the microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, with an 8GB card included in the package.

Integration with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube is also present on the device, as well as Motorola’s MOTONAV turn-by-turn navigation solution. Moreover, users can easily access the Android Market straight from the handset, where they will find thousands of applications available for download.

The TV ad with Motorola Milestone XT720 (via dailymobile.se) reminds us a little of the commercials Verizon put in place for another Motorola Android phone, the DROID. The focus in this clip is on the high end features of the device, including that 8MP camera and the HDTV out capabilities. Additionally, the clip reminds us of the “world of apps” available via Google's software portal (some of Verizon's latest ads were focused on presenting the apps that can be enjoyed on the DROID).
