Wireless operator Cincinnati Bell announced a while ago that it plans on bringing a new Android-based handset one the market in the United States, namely the Motorola Milestone XT720, and, starting with August 6th, the carrier's customers are the first people in the US to taste the capabilities of this device. The handset, launched a few months ago on the market in the UK, is available for purchase for $199.99 on a two-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The MILESTONE XT720 makes high-definition video recording and playback easy, with HDMI and Wi-Fi connectivity. The 3.7-inch touch screen and 8-megapixel camera with xenon flash make it a serious digital imaging device, in a thin and elegant design and all on the FASTEST 3G Network in Cincinnati (3G not available in all areas. Fastest 3G claim based on direct comparison of CBW and AT&T's download speeds in March 2010. Actual speed may vary),” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

In case there are some of you who might have not encountered the Motorola Milestone XT720 before, we should mention that it was originally released in Korea as Motoroi, and that Motorola upgraded it and launched it in Europe too, under the Milestone XT720 moniker. One of the nicest Android-based devices brought to the market during the ongoing year, the handset boasts a 3.7-inch touchscreen display that delivers a 480 x 854 pixel (FWVGA) resolution, and runs under the Android 2.1 operating system.

The phone's specifications list also includes a 720 MHz processor (TI OMAP3440), WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR2, USB 2.0, an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Xenon Flash, auto focus and 720p video recording capabilities, HDMI to HDTV (HDMI cable in box), along with 512MB of flash memory complemented by microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB (an 8GB card included in the package). The phone measures 4.56 x 2.39 x 0.43 inches, weighs in at 5.64 oz and packs a 1150 mAh rechargeable battery that can offer up to 4.3 hours of talk time or up to 9 hours of standby time.
