Bluegrass Cellular, a regional carrier based in Kentucky, has just announced plans to offer Motorola's Milestone X smartphone. Also known as Motorola Droid X, the device was one of the most successful Android smartphones retailed by Verizon.

Unfortunately, those who thought the “Milestone X” moniker is an indication the phone will make its jump overseas will be disappointed, as Bluegrass is a CDMA based network operator.

However, customers living in Kentucky who aren't Verizon subscribers yet might give Milestone X a chance, as the device is quite the looker.

In terms of specs, Milestone X has the same features as the original Droid X with a single exception: it runs on Android 2.1, while the Droid X has already gotten the Froyo upgrade in September 2010.

Motorola Milestone X is listed on the carrier's “Coming Soon” page for the moment, but it might go live by the end of the week.

Verizon's Droid X is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor (with PowerVR SGX530 GPU) and runs on Android 2.1 Eclair out-of-the-box, but it is currently upgradable to Android 2.2 Froyo.

The device comes with a 4.3-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors, 480 x 854 pixels resolution, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

One of the strong points of the smartphone is the 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization and video recording capabilities (720p@24fps and D1@30 fps).

Other key features of the phone include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP connectivity, DLNA function, 6.5 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16GB card included), Stereo FM radio with RDS, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.

EA Mobile’s Need for Speed Shift game also comes bundled with the Droid X, but there's no mention of the game being included with the Motorola Milestone X.
