Motorola Milestone, the high-end smartphone from leading mobile phone maker Motorola now available with Google's Android 2.0 operating system on board in Canada via Telus can be purchased via Best Buy too, and it is a little cheaper than when acquired from the wireless carrier, it seems. The retailer has it available for only $549 for those willing to get it without committing to a contract agreement with the wireless operator, which is $50 cheaper than what Telus asks for it.

Those willing to acquire the handset without a contract agreement can do so either at Best Buy's stores or via the retailer's website, and they will get the Motorola Milestone for $50 cheaper. However, in case there are some who want to benefit from the contract offerings Telus has in store for them, they can choose either a 3-year agreement with the carrier, case in which they will get the Milestone for $199.99, a 2-year contract, with which Milestone is available for $499.99, or a one-year contract, which will deliver the device for $549.99.

From what we've seen, it’s certainly worth the trouble of purchasing the high-end Android-based smartphone free of contract from Best Buy, especially since its price at the retailer is the same as the one Telus has it for with a one-year contract agreement. And the features and capabilities of this mobile phone certainly worth every penny, one should agree.

What the handset will deliver to users includes a 3.7-inch widescreen touchscreen display, 3G+ connectivity options, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, a side-sliding full QWERTY keyboard, memory card slot with a 16 GB memory card included in the package, Exchange-server support, POP3, IMAP and Gmail, support for Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk and YouTube, Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5mm headset jack, and more, including the possibility to soon upgrade it to the Android 2.1 flavor of the operating system. Those interested in the new offer for the Milestone will find it available for purchase at Best Buy here.

[UPDATE] It seems that Best Buy changed its mind, and has brought the Milestone back to the original $599.99 price point, the same as on Telus. Read more about this at mobilesyrup here.
