Motorola Mobility has just announced the immediate availability of the MOTOSMART PLUS Android smartphone in Peru. This is the second South American country that gets this handset this month after Chile got it about two weeks ago.

Also known as Motorola MOTOLUXE, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system integrated with Moto Switch user interface.

According to the US-based manufacturer, customers in Peru can now purchase the MOTOSMART PLUS via all major carriers across the country.

Unfortunately, Motorola did not disclose any details regarding the phone's pricing options, but more info is available from select authorized resellers and operators.

Combining style with the characteristic intelligence of Android, MOTOSMART PLUS is ideal for users seeking the latest technology in a highly sophisticated package,” said Alexander Zawadzki, country manager of Motorola Mobility for Peru.

The MOTOSMART PLUS is a mid-range Android phone, but that did not stop Motorola from adding a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display and an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

Aside from these, the smartphone is pretty average in all aspects when it comes to hardware. In this regard Motorola MOTOSMART PLUS is equipped with a 800 MHz single core processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone will be shipped along with a free 2GB memory card in the sales package. The information has been confirmed by Motorola, though customers should enquire about this before purchasing the device.

The smartphone also sports a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls, as well as HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi support.

With the new MOTOSMART PLUS, we remain firm in our goal to democratize the use of smartphones and Android, as the device combines stylish design, the latest multimedia features and an affordable price,” added Zawadzki.
