The affordable Motorola MOTOLUXE has just been announced in Greece. The smartphone is expected to hit shelves in late March, though no pricing options have been unveiled yet.

Showcased last month at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, the MOTOLUXE is aimed at youngsters who want to stand out from the crowd, but cannot afford to purchase a more expensive handset.

[admark=1]The smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with Moto Switch UI on top. It also provides access to more than 450,000 apps via Google Play Store.

There has been much talk on a possible upgrade of the MOTOLUXE to Ice Cream Sandwich platform, as Motorola is now “evaluating” this option. However, there is no confirmation whatsoever, so for the time being we should assume the worse.

The strong points of the MOTOLUXE are the large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution, and the enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera that offers autofocus and LED flash. There’s also a secondary VGA front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calls.

Aside from these, there’s nothing really that could make this phone exceptional. The phone is equipped with an 800 MHz single-core processor and packs 1GB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

When it comes to connectivity options, the MOTOLUXE is an all-rounder, but does not impress through quality. The phone comes with HSDPA (7.2Mbps) and Wi-Fi support, as well as Bluetooth 3.0 and built-in GPS receiver.

By combining sleek style with Android brains, MOTOLUXE is ideal for people who want the latest technology in a sophisticated package. Not only does this smartphone have a big screen and the latest, greatest entertainment tools, it’s affordable and won’t take a bite out of your budget,” said Spiros Tsitos, country manager for Greece, Motorola Mobility.
