Motorola’s MOTO ACTV fitness watch already delivers quite a lot of functionality to its users, but now an intrepid developer has found a way of rooting this Android-powered device to make it even more enticing for prospective buyers.

As the video enclosed above demos, rooting the MOTO ACTV really does unlock new possibilities for its users, who can now install an app launcher, Android Market, Google Maps, YouTube, as well as a web browser.

Furthermore, Angry Birds can also run on the 1.6-inch watch and by the look of it doesn’t seems half bad.

Of course that this was to be expected since the MOTO ACTV is actually a tiny Android device powered by a 600 MHz OMAP 3630 processor paired with 256MB of RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS.

Detailed instructions on how to root Motorola’s fitness watch are available on Chris Wade’s blog (the developer behind this hack), so if you want to turn the MOTO ACTV into a sort of micro-mini-tablet here’s your chance.
