Mobile-phone maker Motorola has recently announced the launch of a new Android-based handset on the European market, the Motorola MILESTONE XT720, and introduced the device to the German market on Friday. The new phone is the European version of Motorola Motoroi, which was launched in South Korea earlier this year, and comes to the shelves as the slimmest 8-megapixel Android smartphone with Xenon Flash on the market, the company states.

Unfortunately, Motorola did not offer specific details on the exact release date or pricing of the Motorola MILESTONE XT720 in Germany, but announced that the phone should arrive there soon. Powered by Google's Android 2.1 operating system, the device includes a wide range of appealing features, such as a body that is only 10.9mm thick, enhanced media and mobile Internet capabilities, or high-definition (HD) video recording.

“With MILESTONE XT720, Motorola has taken yet another step towards eliminating the barriers for consumers to creating and consuming media on the go,” Ralf Gerbershagen, vice president and general manager for Motorola’s Mobile Devices business in Western Europe, said. With an 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and 720p HD video recording, the phone can indeed enhance the experience users get from their Android-based device.

The specifications list of the phone includes a 3.7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA (480 x 854 pixel) resolution, HDMI out, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, with an 8GB microSD card included in the package, multi-tasking capabilities, a GPS receiver, a wide range of connectivity options, and support for Google services like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube. Moreover, users can download and install a great deal of applications on the phone via the Android Market.

The mobile-phone maker is set to unveil the necessary info on the Motorola MILESTONE XT720's availability on the market in the near future, so stay tuned for more on this. In the meantime, you can take a look at the promo video the company published on the new device.
