It should hit the shelves before Christmas

After launching the successful RAZR, Motorola came up with another idea on how to boost their already increasing reputation, the laser-etched tattooed phone.

Asked about the new design Jeremy Dale, Motorola vice president, states "the idea for the tattoos came about last Christmastime when we saw the phenomenal success of the pink RAZR. It had really connected with consumers. People today are looking to make personal statements, with the clothes that they wear, the bars they go to. And their phones have become a fashion item."

The laser-etched tattoos are designed by Ami James of the hit TV show "Miami Ink". It seems her partnership with Motorola started one year ago. On a recent annual meeting, Motorola displayed one of the designs, a dragon, keeping the rest as a surprise. They expect to begin selling the new laser-etched phone by the end of the year, but a date hasn't been confirmed yet.
