On China Unicom's airwaves

Mobile phone maker Motorola has just made available in China another handset powered by Google's Android operating system, namely the Motorola XT701. Most of you might be already familiar with this device, as it has been launched already in Korea under the name of Motorola Motoroi, and now Chinese mobile phone users can already enjoy it on the airwaves of China Unicom.

Those interested in purchasing the Android-based mobile phone will find it available on China Unicom's official shopping website vsens.com, where it is priced at 4,299 Yuan (about $632 USD). The handset comes with an innovative design and appealing specifications, and is being launched in China even if Google postponed plans to bring its Android OS to the country, following its dispute with the Chinese government.

The Motorola XT701 sports appealing specifications too, including the Android 2.0 flavor of Google's operating system, a TI OMAP 3430 processor clocked at 600 MHz, coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM and a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel (WVGA) resolution. The new mobile phone also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video capture, GPS receiver with support for satellite navigation, FM radio, USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

At the same time, Chinese mobile phone users will also benefit from 802.11 b/g WIFI/WAPI connectivity when purchasing the device, as well as from support for WCDMA and GSM quad band frequencies. The Motorola XT701 includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 1390mAh battery that can offer up to 550 minutes of talk time, or up to 200 hours of standby time. All of these are packed inside a device that measures 115.95 x 60.90 x 10.9mm and weighs in at 139g. Another important feature of the new Android handset from Motorola is the Micro-SDHC memory card slot, which offers support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.
